Installations

With 17+ years of experience our expert installers can customize a solution for your interior design needs. At Mike Lewis Hearth Works we are confident when it comes to the jobs that the other guys shy away from. Not all fireplaces are the same, they are unique to each and every house, whether it’s a masonry fireplace or a manufactured metal fireplace.

Masonry fireplaces are built entirely of brick and mortar. These fireplaces generally are found in homes built before the 1970’s. “Zero Clearance Fireplaces” are metal boxes built into the house with wood framing around them and found in homes built from 1970 to today. Masonry fireplaces can accept most inserts which are gas, wood, or pellet, which gives you a variety when it comes to choosing the product that fits your needs. On the other hand zero clearance fireplaces are for the most part built smaller. This means that when it comes time to shop for an insert your choices will be limited, but this is where our experience comes in.

At Hearth Works we have done thousands of installs and each one is different. From the moment we enter your home we are looking at what your needs are for heating and the style. We understand that everyone has different taste when it comes to the decor of their homes. When we come to your home for a free estimate we will take the time to listen so we really understand what your wants and needs are.

Maintenance

At Mike Lewis Hearth Works we provide maintenance services, Chimney sweeps, Seasonal Maintenance, and Repairs… Did you know that regular maintenance can prevent potential chimney fires in wood burning appliances? When was the last time you had your Fireplace or Gas insert inspected?

When burning solid fuels such as wood or wood pellets it creates a hard carbon build up called creosote. Chimneys that go without regular cleaning can build up dangerous levels of creosote, and could possibly start a chimney fire. For wood burning fireplaces, inserts, and freestanding stoves you should have your chimney inspected and cleaned after every season.

Another popular fuel for fireplaces, inserts, and freestanding stoves is natural gas and propane. For people using natural gas a cleaning on their hearth product should be done once every two years. A good reminder that it's "cleaning/service" time is; gray film will build up on your glass making it difficult to view the flame. Propane is a different story all together. Although it is a gas it is dirty when compared to natural gas. Products using propane should be cleaned once a year. The only difference is that the glass on your propane unit may be black not gray.

"It's a pleasure doing business with Mike Lewis and the Hearth Works team. They installed three fireplaces and a custom kitchen island hood at our home, always on time and on budget. Hearth Works offers a one-stop shop at a reasonable price, so I didn't feel like I had to find various contractors to do the jobs. Mike is very clear and reasonable about change orders, so there were never any surprises when I got the final bill. I would use Hearth Works again and will recommend them to my friends and neighbors."
